Peace in chaos

It started with a pair of fake clogs.

I found them while getting groceries — just sitting there, wrong in the best way. I took them home, started reworking them, and put them up on Depop. They sold. Then I made something else. That sold too. I kept going until I had enough to buy a sewing machine, and from there it's been a snowball I haven't tried to stop.

I'm Rene i'm a 19 year old fashion school drop out. garmentsbychaos is mine — built by hand, run alone, and made entirely on my own terms.

Where It Came From

My first real swing at this was under a different name — chaotic.archiv3 on Instagram and depop. I was deep into urban exploring at the time, so I grabbed damn near my only two friends and took them to abandoned places to shoot content for the clothes. No ad budget. No clue what a profit margin was. Just my mom's old camcorder, some bandos, and a genuine love for what I was making.

I was having the time of my life. I loved making the videos. I loved watching my own progress. I loved making the clothes.

Things change. I no longer talk to those two individuals — though I still hold love for them and appreciate everything they brought to those early days. What I've learned since is that it runs better this way. Just me.

“Garmentsbychaos” is the new and improved version of the vision I’ve always had. I realized that I was becoming known more for my videos than my clothing, and the more focus I put into the Bando and video concepts, the less attention my garments were receiving. Because of that, I decided to fully commit to the clothing and the self-expression that came from this new era of my fashion journey.

I didn’t want to completely abandon my videos, so I separated the two. Now, the audience I built who enjoys my videos can continue to experience them through “chaotic.archiv3,” while “Garmentsbychaos” will have a mix of both worlds but remain primarily focused on my garments.

What Each Piece Actually Is

Every garment I make is a one-of-one reworked thrifted find — but it's more than that. Each piece is a snapshot of where I'm at: my mood, my mindset, my personality at the time I made it. The name I give it isn't random. The way it's constructed isn't accidental. You're not just buying a reworked garment. You're buying a moment.

When it's gone, that moment is gone with it.

How It's Made

Everything is cut, sewn, distressed, dyed, or reconstructed by hand — one piece at a time, in my own workspace. I don't run batches. I don't replicate. I follow what the fabric wants to become and I follow what I'm feeling that day. Some pieces take an afternoon. Some take a week. None of them take shortcuts.

Materials & Values

• Sourced, not manufactured. I work with pre-existing garments and deadstock fabric whenever possible.
• No overproduction. I only make what I can make well, with my own hands.
• Honest about imperfection. Vintage and reworked pieces carry marks of their past. I photograph them as they are.
• Small on purpose. Staying small means staying intentional. That's not changing.
